Why this petition matters

Started by Charles Rutterbush

The Historic "Lancaster House" at the corner of Randolph Ave and Waltham Ave. was built in 1882 for Pine Castle's pioneer merchant Isaac Aten.     See The House

No other residence or structure south of Apopka can claim that it has remained in one spot for 140 years. The house later became the home of Belle Isle's first elected mayor Arthur Lancaster. It changed hands several times until it became part of the old Pine Castle Center for the Arts and was incorporated into the campus of Pine Castle Christian Academy.

Current tenant Cornerstone Charter Academy, through its unelected board, has neglected this historic home for over a decade and recently declared their intention to demolish it to make room for more PARKING (they currently have 2X what they require). But they are not the owners of the property. The citizens of Belle Isle own the Lancaster House and their elected representatives will decide the ultimate fate of this historic structure at their March 1st meeting, 2022.

If you would like to encourage the Belle Isle City Council to exercise their property rights on behalf of their constituents and stand up to the unelected CCA board, please sign this petition.  You can also sign in person at the Pine Castle Pioneer Days Festival, Feb 26 and 27 at Cypress Grove Park (290 W Holden, Orlando, FL 32809).

Supporters of its preservation have been encouraged to collect signatures on this petition BEFORE MARCH FIRST!  You can also contact the city council directly by clicking this link for their contact information.  Thank  You!
