Why this petition matters

Started by Foster Hitchman

Within the past decade, Lynne Frederick’s image has experienced a resurgence in the face of pop culture and cult films. The renewed popularity of films of hers such as Phase IV (1974), The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972), Vampire Circus (1972), and others, have contributed to her image gradually altering from period piece obscurity to resurrected pop culture angel. Frederick’s legacy has been celebrated on various platforms: from blogs, social media fan pages, film conventions, film buffs/historians, and YouTube tribute videos.

Unfortunately, the two films of Frederick that showcase her best in the prime of her career are unavailable on DVD/Blu-Ray, or even streaming services. These films are Largo Retorno (aka A Long Returning) and El Vicio Y La Virtud (aka The Vice and Virtue), both released in Spain in 1975. They were moderate successes during their initial releases but have sunken into obscurity since a limited release on VHS and BETA in the late 70s/early 80s.

With Lynne Frederick’s status as a cult film icon gradually expanding, fans deserve to have access to the two films that show case her at her best and in the height of her career.

Please sign the petition to appeal directly to SOGEPAQ, S.A., Video Mercury Films, S.A., and EGEDA to remaster/release these two films on DVD/Blu-Ray (in both Spanish and English/with English subtitles).
