Instead of playgrounds, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and more, our Osceola County Commissioners ALL voted instead to sandwich a 7 factories between established neighborhoods and near our childrens schools! This is east of the intersection of Pleasant Hill and Reeves Roads (Click here for location)

If the area designated as the Mac Overstreet Regional Park is turned into concrete and chemical-industrial structures, our quality of life will be impaired.  We will be exposed 24-7-365 for decades to a hazardous facility.

This is labeled a “green” factory, but it will lower and deplete our groundwater level which can cause SINK HOLES by

  • Over-withdrawal of groundwater.
  • Diverting surface water from a large area and concentrating it in a single point.
  • Artificially creating ponds of surface water.
  • Drilling new water wells.

We the below signatories urge Osceola County to halt the chemical manufacturing, storage, and electrical power industrial plant proposed to take >300 acres including wetlands next to Lake Toho between Bellalago, BellaParc, Parkview at Lake Shore communities and near multiple schools. This will directly harm 35,658 people, 13,480 homes, and 7,955 school age children - all within a 3 mile radius.

We oppose its construction and operations based upon the potential for leaching of chemicals including lithium and phosphorus into the Lake and for chemical fires and pressurized, high-temperature hydrogen containment explosions on-site and on Pleasant Hill Road; its unpaid yet voluminous usage of water, despite occasional droughts attended with restriction of residents’ water usage; its eradication of wildlife and destruction of a last Native site; its noise, traffic and parking lot for >1,000 cars; its denial of diversity, equity and environmental justice to the Community; and the County’s lack of notice and failure to consult with the Community. This property was sold to the County for the purpose of the Community retaining it as “parkland”, intact and pure.
