Stop Controlled Parking Zones in Gorgie and Gorgie North
Stop Controlled Parking Zones in Gorgie and Gorgie North
Why this petition matters
The City of Edinburgh Council is proposing to introduce controlled parking zones (CPZs) in Gorgie and Gorgie North including Slateford (classed as phase 1). This will involve permit parking only from 8.30am to 5.30pm Mon - Fri and residents will need to pay for a permit. Permits will need to be purchased for visitors and trades people. However in the majority of this area there isn't a problem with parking except when there is a game on at Tynecastle or Murrayfiled - which the new parking measures will not help with. The main benefits for this will be the council who will make money on residents having to pay for a permit going forward - an additional cost in a time when inflation and costs are rising. Residents do not get permits for free unless they are blue badge holders.
Please sign this petition if you do not want CPZ areas introduced in this area. We need a minimum of 200 signatures to present this to the council. They are also running a consultation until 5th December but make it difficult to view the details of the changes online. Email edinburgh.consulation@projectcentre.co.uk to also formally object.
