We, the undersigned, are concerned permanent residents and public individuals, or have a family member who applied for Canadian citizenship between 2019 and 2022. Despite meeting all the necessary requirements and diligently following the application process, we are experiencing unprecedented delays in the processing of our applications by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The prolonged delays in processing our citizenship applications have caused significant uncertainty, emotional distress, and inconvenience to thousands of deserving applicants and their families. As a result, many of us have been unable to fully participate in Canadian society, exercise certain rights, and access various opportunities available to citizens.

While we understand that processing times can vary due to factors such as volume and complexity, the lack of transparency and communication from IRCC has left us in the dark about the status of our applications. We believe that greater clarity on the reasons for these delays is necessary to instill trust in the process and ensure that applications are being handled fairly and efficiently.

We, the undersigned, urge IRCC to take immediate action to address the backlog of citizenship applications submitted between 2019 and 2022. Specifically, we request the following:

Expedite Processing: Prioritize and expedite the processing of citizenship applications from this time frame to provide timely outcomes for deserving applicants. Also first come first served should be applied.
Transparency and Communication: Provide regular and transparent updates on the status of applications, including estimated processing times and any relevant updates.
Fair and Equal Treatment: Ensure fair and equal treatment of all citizenship applicants, regardless of when they applied.
Clear Guidelines: Clarify the criteria and documentation requirements to avoid unnecessary delays caused by ambiguous instructions.
Increased Resources: Allocate adequate resources and staff to handle the volume of applications effectively.

We believe that addressing this issue is vital for the well-being and integration of individuals who have made Canada their home and have eagerly pursued Canadian citizenship.
