Why this petition matters

Started by 1208 Foundation

Afghanistan's Special Operators bore the brunt of the fighting for two decades, and it is a moral obligation that the United States Government provides for their health and welfare, and assist wherever necessary to ensure that they can live and thrive free from oppression. Afghan SOF were built by American forces, in part to help forward American interests. As Americans, we must not abandon those who stepped up to aid us.

In particular, a unit of Afghan counter-IED specialists, the National Mine Reduction Group, quite literally cleared the way for the Army Green Berets they partnered with. Their technical expertise and familiarity with Taliban tactics was indispensable as they detected and disabled IEDs (usually by hand) in advance of US forces. Many American soldiers and Green Berets -including the founders of the 1208 Foundation- are alive today because of the NMRG.

They volunteered to do the most dangerous job in Afghanistan to further the interests of a nation they've never known. And did so purely on faith: Faith that we would be there for them when times got hard.

We must ensure that their faith in us, as Americans, was not misplaced and fulfill our moral obligation by providing the NMRG refuge in the United States.

Sign to insist that Secretary of State Blinken and members of congress fulfill America promise and provide safe haven to our Afghan Allies

With or without the US Government's support, we are doing everything we can to provide aid; check out our efforts at 1208foundation.org or donate to Our Fundraiser or GoFundMe. We are providing point-to-point aid to help 300 NMRG families survive famine, evade persecution and immigrate to the United States. We take no salaries in this endeavor.
