The upcoming Federal election provides us a unique opportunity to raise our collective voice and drive the change we need to see.

We need YOUR help to amplify our message. Over the course of the coming weeks we will ask for your support in a number of ways. Today we are asking for your support by co-signing and sharing this petition. 

Our Every Child Every Possibility campaign will ask every Member of Parliament, every Senator, and every candidate across the nation to pledge their support to The Reimagine Statement to prioritise the implementation of a national reform program to provide seamless and integrated access and support for all Australian families with young children in the next term of government.

We know that the early childhood years are the most powerful development time in a human's life. Yet, our current service system is broken - littered with time-consuming complexity, barriers, confusion, waitlists and far too many dead ends. Families describe their experience when seeking support for their child as "overwhelming" and "impossible".

Reimagine is asking our leaders to pledge their commitment to a national reform program that will enable universal seamless and integrated support for all families of young children. We are seeking their commitment to prioritised and urgent action to 'reimagine' the current service system environment, which is overwhelming for families, disabling for children and which fails to harness the unique and valuable opportunity that early childhood provides for children to reach their full potential. 

Reimagine Australia is calling upon families, professionals, organisations and political representatives to show their universal support for a program of investment in national service system reform to establish one easy to navigate system that best enables young children to reach their full potential. A system that maximises the opportunity of their early childhood years, and that is harmonised at Federal, State and Territory levels. 

There is no greater investment in our nations future than enabling our children to reach their full potential. We ask you to add your endorsement and commitment to The Reimagine Statement, and that together we can make sure that every child has every opportunity to thrive.

BACKGROUND

Children live and thrive in the context of their families. 

Family is the most essential support system in the child's life. For hundreds of thousands of families every year who seek support for a young child, they are are confronted and confused by a system that, despite its best intentions, has become overwhelmingly complex. Families describe their interaction with Australia's human services system as confronting, difficult and confusing, with no less than 10 separate service systems to coordinate and navigate. When you add extra layers such as cultural barriers, entrenched disadvantage and poverty to a family’s circumstance, the journey becomes dangerously difficult to successfully navigate. 

Families need access to a fully inclusive, well-resourced, culturally responsive and innovative early childhood support system. Empowering and supporting families through easily accessible information and resources, that are designed and delivered through the lens of the development and wellbeing of their whole family, will enable optimised outcomes for families and their children.

We are calling on the everyday hero; parents and carers, early childhood practitioners, community leaders, professionals, as well as leading organisations, peak bodies, research bodies and elected representatives.
