Much of America's naval history has been destroyed. All the original plans for most of America's battleships were tossed into the trash about 15 years ago.

The last remaining set of blueprint copies for the Iowa-class battleships (USS Iowa, USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin) along with all the remaining spare parts are sitting on board USS Charleston. Supporters would gladly pay for a crane and truck to save these historical treasures but no one in the Navy wants to take the trouble of opening the ship up to remove them.

USS Charleston is scheduled to be scrapped. If we do not act now, all these historical documents and artifacts will be lost.

This petition calls on the US Navy to open USS Charleston so that the battleship museums can remove the artifacts.
