Why this petition matters

Started by Joanna Buckmaster

Have you heard of PIMS-TS? If not, please read on, you might just save a child's life. PIMS-TS or Paediatric Inflammatory Multisystem Syndrome is an acute and potentially life-threatening condition which is triggered by Covid19 infection. It occurs 2-6 weeks after Covid19 and primarily affects children and young people, with approximately 3,000 affected in the UK. It is challenging to diagnose as it has multiple symptoms, many of which mimic other conditions. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are vital for best outcomes and to avoid life threatening and life changing complications. So it is vital that parents and medical professionals know what PIMS-TS is and how to seek help, diagnose and treat it. So why is there no symptom information on the Government Covid19 websites, NHS websites and online platforms and why are PIMS families constantly telling us that their GP, A&E, and even paediatricians have not heard of PIMS-TS? In memory of those children lost to PIMS-TS in the UK and around the world, please support us by signing and sharing this petition, started by the UK PIMS-TS family support group (3.5K members)  This is what we want to achieve:                                                                                         1. Make symptom and clinical information more accessible for parents, carers and schools by adding them to Government and NHS online platforms, websites and apps.

2.Ensure all medical professionals at all levels are aware of PIMS-TS, its diagnosis and its treatment.

3. Ensure PIMS-TS case data is made public and updated regularly.

We are calling on the UK Government, the DHSC, the UKHSA, the RCPCH and the NHS to step up and help us achieve this.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US TO GET PIMS KNOWN!!!
