We want to reduce our trash and recycle more. We want to lengthen the life of our landfill, which is currently estimated to last another 5-7 years. If we fill up our landfill, our costs will go up. The more we recycle and compost, the longer our landfill will last. 

Currently, we cannot weigh our garbage that is headed to the landfill. Other cities do, with measuring tools on their trucks that weigh the garbage for each dumpster. Durango needs to obtain this infrastructure so that businesses can accurately measure their recycling to trash ratio. 

We want to meet 4CORE’s goal to recycle 75% of our waste, but we need our City to help us measure it so we know how much further we have to go to meet our goal. Please let us know, as the leaders of the Green Business community, how we can help our City do what it takes to upgrade the waste management trucks to further this goal.
