On October 25, 2023, a transformative event unfolded in Lewiston, Maine, reshaping my perspective on mass shootings. To honor the memories of victims and survivors, I utilized my artistic skills, creating pieces inspired by a light blue heart—the symbol of our resilient Lewiston community. In this creative journey, the concept of the 'Blue Hearts Foundation' and the term of endearment, 'Blue Hearts Families,' emerged, encapsulating the lasting impact of these tragedies and symbolizing love for the impacted families.

 

Proposed Initiatives within the Preventive Threat Elimination Act:

1. Preventive Threat Elimination Act–Zero Tolerance Law.

2. A National Memorial in Washington DC; The gathering point for remembrance and celebration of lives.

3. Victims and Survivors Trust Fund; To provide immediate & long-term financial support to affected families.

4. Designate October as Mass Shooting Awareness Month; National Awareness Televised PSA Campaign.

5. Establish October 25th as a National Holiday; To collectively mourn the lives lost as an result of Mass Shootings in the United States.

Why It Matters: The Preventive Threat Elimination Act is grounded in statistical evidence, with studies showing that nearly half of all mass shooters leaked their plans in advance. Implementing this law could significantly reduce the occurrence of mass shootings and save countless innocent lives.

Furthermore, despite the recurring mass shootings, our nation lacks a National Memorial and financial support for victims' families.
