Why this petition matters

I am a passionate follower of rallying, a motorsport that holds significant importance in Ireland. For many of us, it's more than just a sport; it's part of our culture and identity. Sadly, since 2009, Rally Ireland has been absent from the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar.

Rallying is one of the biggest motorsport events on Irish soil. It brings together communities and fans from all over the country and beyond. The absence of this event from the WRC calendar not only affects us as fans but also impacts our local economy.

In its last edition in 2009, Rally Ireland attracted an estimated 150,000 spectators and contributed approximately €40 million to our local economy (source: Motorsport Ireland). This event is not just about racing; it's about promoting tourism and boosting local businesses.

In a statement by Motorsport Ireland, were asking for an investment of 15m euros over three years for a return of 300m euros.

We believe that bringing back Rally Ireland to the WRC calendar will reinvigorate this passion for rallying among Irish people while providing an economic boost to regions hosting these events.

We call upon the Irish Government, to plan there next steps in order to Rally Ireland back on thee WRC calendar by 2026. Please sign this petition if you believe in bringing back this iconic event to our homeland.
