Today, any person worldwide can publish their books without upfront financial investments, independently, and in any quantity through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

Amazon KDP is almost as big a cultural breakthrough as the invention of the printing press. It is a platform that makes publishing accessible to everyone — except Belarusian-language authors.

In 2023 alone, 10,000 books in Ukrainian were published on Amazon, while only about 6,000 were printed inside Ukraine. This proves that KDP helps languages expand their presence worldwide and overcome barriers.

We, the Belarusian-speaking community, are launching this petition to show how many of us there are and how much we want to read books in our native language!

Adding Belarusian to Amazon KDP and allowing people to legally and conveniently publish and sell books in it would be fair, democratic, and a step forward for both authors and readers. It is an essential part of inclusive commerce.

Why is this important?

The Belarusian language is alive and relevant—millions of people speak it in Belarus and around the world.

UNESCO classifies the Belarusian language as endangered. Without support and presence on global platforms, its situation will worsen.

The Belarusian diaspora and people in Belarus want access to modern Belarusian books!

The absence of Belarusian on KDP limits opportunities for authors and readers and deprives the Belarusian-speaking community of access to the global book market.

Belarusian authors, researchers, and translators want to publish their books through KDP but cannot.

⚡️ Amazon, we also need ABC books, coloring books, poetry collections, and Game of Thrones in Belarusian!

📢 Amazon, what’s the hold-up?

We ask you to unlock the Belarusian language on KDP and allow us to publish books on an equal footing with other languages!

If Amazon does not have specialists to review Belarusian-language books for compliance with platform rules, we urge you to open a position for Belarusian linguists who can join the KDP team and ensure quality content control!

Сёння любы чалавек па ўсім свеце можа выдаваць свае кнігі без папярэдніх фінансавых укладанняў, самастойна і любым накладам праз Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

Amazon KDP – гэта амаль такі ж культурны прарыў, як вынаходніцтва друкарскага станка. Гэта платформа, якая робіць выданне кніг даступным для ўсіх, акрамя беларускамоўных аўтараў/ак.

За 2023 год на ўкраінскай мове было выдадзена 10 000 кніг праз Amazon, а ў самой Украіне – каля 6 000. Гэта сведчыць, што KDP дапамагае мовам пашыраць сваю прысутнасць у свеце і пераадольваць бар’еры.

Мы, беларускамоўная супольнасць, просім Amazon KDP дадаць беларускую мову і даць людзям магчымасць легальна і зручна выдаваць і прадаваць кнігі на па-беларуску.

Гэта справядліва і дэмакратычна, гэта крок наперад для аўтараў і чытачоў, гэта неабходная частка інклюзіўнай камерцыі!

Чаму гэта важна?

Беларуская мова – адна з дзяржаўных моў Беларусі і частка культурнай спадчыны Еўропы.

UNESCO адносіць беларускую мову да тых, што знаходзяцца пад пагрозай знікнення. Без падтрымкі і прысутнасці на глабальных платформах яе становішча будзе пагаршацца.

Беларуская дыяспара і людзі ў Беларусі хочуць мець доступ да сучасных беларускіх кніг.

Беларускія аўтары/кі, даследчыкі/цы і перакладчыкі\цы хочуць друкаваць свае кнігі праз KDP, але не могуць.

Мы просім вас разблакаваць беларускую мову на KDP і даць нам магчымасць друкаваць кнігі нароўні з іншымі мовамі!

Калі ў кампаніі Amazon няма адмыслоўцаў, якія могуць ацэньваць кнігі на адпаведнасць правілам платформы, мы просім адкрыць вакансію для беларускіх мовазнаўцаў, якія змогуць далучыцца да каманды KDP і забяспечыць якасны кантроль кантэнту!
