Tesla, fix the defective touchscreen displays
Tesla, fix the defective touchscreen displays
Why this petition matters
Over the last few years, the touchscreens on Telsa Model S cars, particularly older "MCU 1" cars have started to form bubbles and leak toxic fluids into the cabin of the car. Allegedly, this is because the screens were never designed to automotive standards for heat, and leaving the car outside in the sun will create a dashboard temperature these displays cannot withstand. (https://manualzz.com/doc/30594343/g170j1-le1-17---innolux-tft-display-specification-industr Worse still, many owners report that it was Tesla service techs themselves who left these vehicles outside to bake under the sun that created this environment that ruins the screen.
There are literally countless examples of this defect taking place yet despite this issue resulting from a clear and obvious defect, cars which are out of warranty (50,000 miles) are hit with repair bills of $2000 or even more.
Frankly, this is unacceptable. Owners should not be afraid of taking their cars out on warm days.
We ask that Tesla, please do the right thing and recall these screens, or at the very least, fix the problematic examples out of good will and refund the money that owners shelled out due to your choice to use a screen with insufficient heat tolerance.
