Brett Matthews is the current head writer & show runner of the CW show Legacies after Julie Plec, former show runner, moved on to other projects and appointed him in her position. He has ruined the quality of the show & made it a disgrace to the rest of the TVDU shows such as The Vampire Diaries & The Originals. The seasons he’s had control over (3 & 4) have been centered around a male character who isn’t the lead of the show, belittles it’s female characters, & reduces it’s lead LGBTQ+ characters to one dimensional storylines with no depth. Additionally, Brett ignores the concerns and wants of the LGBTQ+ audience refusing to acknowledge that they carry the majority of viewership & promotion for his show. This petition is a plea to the higher up positions on Legacies or the CW network to remove Brett Matthews as show runner and replace him with Thomas Brandon who has proven to listen to the audience’s concerns & whom we trust to write the remainder of the show with justice. If you’re tired of your concerns as a viewer being continuously ignored, please sign this petition in order to make a change.

UPDATE: One of the lead actresses playing Josie Saltzman on Legacies just recently announced their departure from the show. They adored playing this role because the character (who is pansexual) gave so many people queer representation. She unfortunately felt forced to leave the show after show runner Brett Matthews refused to put their character in a good sapphic relationship aka with the leading female Hope Mikaelson (Brett had been queer-baiting the audience for years with Hope & Josie’s relationship). Since all of this has happened, it’s even more apparent how vital & quickly Brett Matthews needs to be removed from the show along with actor Matthew Davis who has made racist remarks in the past & went unpunished by the network.
