Council trying to stop people driving on beaches in the catlins.
Council trying to stop people driving on beaches in the catlins.
Why this petition matters
After one woman from Invercargill ( not anywhere near the catlins) visited the catlins, decided she had the right to start an international petition to decide that people shouldn’t drive on beaches in the catlins. After 5000 signatures with the majority by miles from people who don’t live here or in NZ, the council has to act.
This is the start of the downfall of kiwis rights to access the beaches.
Dont let non local people decide on your local rights. The ratepayers should decide on this. Not people who have only been here a few times or not even at all.
Apparantly this is a numbers game for the council and the catlins coast having only a population of less that 4000, it takes it out of the local hands.
This too could happen in your area. If you are a ratepayer….you have no control over your own areas wishes.
Please help us here in the Catlins to maintain control over our own decisions.
VOTE to keep things local for local people!
