The Griffith Park Pony Ride has been making children's dreams of riding a pony a reality since 1948. This is an experience to allow a young child the opportunity to ride a pony in a safe and controlled setting. Our safe and gentle ponies are trained to work "at liberty" with hand motions and rewards-based training. Many of our patrons bring their children, grandchildren and other family members because they started riding ponies here. Some tell us that they developed a life-long love of horses because of their first pony ride. The opportunity for many children in Los Angeles to ride a horse is fast disappearing, however, and most people cannot afford to keep horses or even to pay for riding lessons. Our pricing remains low so that we can give the children of Los Angeles this wonderful experience

However, if animal extremist groups have their way, we won't be allowed to continue offering children affordable pony rides. These groups have begun protesting and attempting to interfere with the safe operation of the pony rides, which in turn, puts children and ponies at risk for being frightened or even injured.
