It's no doubt that The Dark Crystal is a major, beloved cult classic for many different reasons. But not only that, it was Jim Henson's masterpiece. In August of 2019, we were all gifted with The Age of Resistance, a brilliant, award winning TV show released by Netflix which continued the story of this magical world. Unfortunately, even after winning an Emmy, the show was cancelled after only one season due to the high cost of production, and the lack of attention. Since then, the show has only gained popularity and cemented itself in nerd culture as one of the best fantasy shows created in modern times. Not only was it outstanding in performance, world building, mythos and execution, but it was also groundbreaking, being the only high fantasy show featuring puppets, with no live actors. 

Although the community had tried to stay strong, The Henson Company has not expressed any interest in continuing production of any material, including books, comics, graphic novels, ect. And although we understand the dynamics of the situation, as a community we feel we need to help in some way. However, due to the small size of the community, individual crowd funding campaigns are simply not an option, so that is where this petition comes in! 

The goal of this petition is to get the The Henson Company itself to start a company-oriented crowd funding campaign, which they can utilize as a source of fan income to produce new material. Not just for Age of Resistance, but for anything related to the Dark Crystal Universe. Although it may not be much, over time it could grow, and the hope is that the existence of this campaign alone will not only generate attention/funds among the community, but it will also act as something tangible the community has to display our passion and resolve. 

If the Henson Company is made aware of this campaign as it hopefully acquires a lot of attention, that may be enough motivation for them to embrace the fan base once again. The point of this is not to generate millions of dollars--although that would be really cool--the point is to show them that we are still very active. Active enough to request a crowd funding option so that we may participate in and support the Dark Crystal community. Crowd funding is become a major part of property creation these days, so why not Dark Crystal too?
