Why this petition matters

Started by Andrew Buck

I fully support building a sidewalk around Douglaston Park Golf Course on Commonwealth Blvd and 61st Avenue to keep pedestrians out of harm's way.

This serves to ask you, as an elected official, to provide capital funding and ongoing encouragement to the NYC Department of Transportation and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to prioritize this Pedestrian Safety initiative in Douglaston/Little Neck, New York.

Please refer to the proposal outlined in https://addasidewalk.org/ which I wholeheartedly endorse.

There are three primary reasons why this important capital project infrastructure should be given priority:

1) To support Pedestrian Safety and keep pedestrians out of harm's way aligned with NYC Vision Zero;

2) To provide a safe walkway where local residents can walk or run for health and fitness without the fear of being struck by vehicles; and

3) To enable some local families to walk their children directly to their zoned elementary school PS221Q -  A Blue Ribbon Elementary School of Excellence in Community School District 26 - as it is unsafe to do so at present on Commonwealth Blvd.

Thank you for listening.
