Recently the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club approached Greenville County about a proposed partnership between the club, the city of Mauldin, and Greenville County to build a new multipurpose stadium.  The County put the decision regarding the new stadium on hold to further evaluate the finances.  While I applaud the County for ensuring proper use of our tax dollars, I’d like to send the County a very clear message that the families and friends of Greenville County want to see this stadium built and the time is now!   Please sign this petition to declare your support of the proposed stadium if any of the following reasons resonate with you:

1. We have a first-class club that deserves a first-class home.  Over the past three years, Coach Harkes has led the team to the league finals every year and brought home the championship in 2020.  This team has generated a large, passionate following in Greenville that takes immense pride in the home team.  If you don’t believe me, just drive down Woodruff Road and I guarantee you see Triumph magnets proudly displayed on many of the cars around you.
2. We have a new women’s team that is a game changer.   When the girls of Greenville County go see a Greenville Drive baseball game or a Swamp Rabbits hockey game, they can go enjoy the event, but it’s likely hard to identify with the players and think “that could be me some day”.  However, with the launch of the Greenville Triumph Women’s Soccer Team, the girls of our community now have a team to go watch, cheer for, and be inspired by.  What better message to send to these girls than to give the Triumph Women’s Soccer team a beautiful new home. 
3. There are many reasons the economics should work.  Just look what Fluor Field has done for the city of Greenville and it’s not too hard to imagine the possibilities of what a new multiuse stadium can do for Mauldin in terms of economic development.  In addition to hosting Triumph games, the new stadium could host numerous events including football, lacrosse, high school and club soccer games, concerts and community festivals.  All those events will create jobs, fill hotels and restaurants, and drive economic growth.  What’s particularly attractive about this opportunity is that both the Greenville Triumph and the city of Mauldin have already pledged millions of dollars for the effort in the proposed partnership with Greenville County.
