Tell Princeton University that Nassau Swim Club is Worth Saving!
Why this petition matters
Nassau Swim Club (NSC) has been a community gathering spot for over 50 years. It's not fancy, but it offers a 6-lane 25-yard swimming pool, dive well, baby pool, all-day kids program and swim/dive teams. NSC stands out for its peaceful setting nestled in the woods and open membership policy.
Recently, NSC received devastating news that Princeton University, who owns the pool's property, is committed to terminating its lease, thereby permanently closing this special pool. It remains unclear what plans, if any, Princeton University has for the land.
NSC is a beloved summertime tradition for many people and its loss will be felt deeply, in Princeton and beyond. NSC has collected members from the wider community, as other community pools and swim/dive teams have shuttered in recent years. This trend is alarming. Community pools are vital in keeping our towns healthy and connected. Access to outdoor pools, in particular, is important for mental health and well-being, especially during summer heat waves. And lastly, fewer pools means fewer opportunities for kids to learn to swim or join a summer swim/dive team.
By signing this petition, you're sending a clear message to Princeton University that Nassau Swim Club is an important community asset and well worth saving!
Please note: Nassau Swim Club does not receive any "donations" made on this website. They are used by Change.org to promote the petition. If you are interested in giving to NSC's capital campaign, which is raising $30,000 for needed pool repairs, please make a pledge using this Pledge Form. Please help us show PU that we have the financial resources needed to make this season a success!
