Why this petition matters

Started by Lucas Banks

The preservation of our planet is of vital importance to our future and the amazon rain forest is one of the single most important and bio diverse areas of our planet to preserve. The Amazon contains more than 40,000 plant species, 3,000  freshwater fish species, and more than 370 reptile species.

The amazon produces 6% of the world's oxygen, meaning that for every hundred people in the world, 6 would not be able to breathe properly and either die or develop breathing related issues if the amazon were to be fully deforested. Due to the amazon being so unexplored, there could be so many more creatures and plants out there that could be gone before we know they even existed. Over the past 50 years, 17 percent of the Amazon rain forest has been cut down.

Overall, the Amazon is one of the most beautiful and bio diverse areas on our planet, and is very important to the species of our planet. If the Amazon continues to be deforested at this rate, by 2064, the only place this beautiful forest could be found is people’s hearts, minds, pictures and fantasies.
