Congressional Gold Medal for 9/11 responders
Congressional Gold Medal for 9/11 responders
Why this petition matters
I am a 9/11 responder. Congress should award the Congressional Gold Medal to 9/11 responders. My representative's staffer told me that the House will not hear requests of this type. They were actually surprised that we haven't been recognized in this way. They thought this had happened already.
9/11 responders are dying every day. More responders have perished from 9/11 illnesses than those who were killed on 9/11. The time is slipping away to recognize those who gave so much (and are still giving) during our nation's darkest hour.
Victims of 9/11 were recognized with the Congressional Gold Medal in 2014. It is painfully obvious that this was earned. Responders who have died or are suffering from 9/11 related illnesses have also earned this recognition.
Now is the time to let our Congress know that we have not forgotten 9/11. That we want to recognize those who helped our nation recover from this terrible attack. We want to honor those who worked to heal our nation's soul while they are still around to receive it.
