Kim Kardashian: The Justice Project documentary special, initially aired back in 2020 (Sunday, April 5, 2020) on the oxygen channel. Dawn Jackson, a woman incarcerated at the only female prison (Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women) in the state of NJ, reached out to many by writing letters. As a result, one of Dawn's many letters caught the attention of Kim Kardashian and her legal team; and as a result of that, Dawn's story was featured in Kardashian's documentary.

A longtime resident of South River, New Jersey -- family and friends know her as Dawntrishia Wilson. Dawn is the mother of 11 children, and grandmother of 20. She was a lifelong victim of sexual, physical, emotional, mental and verbal abuse. Beginning from the age of 5, Dawn was severely violated, and sexually abused by 5 male family members, and 1 family friend.

Dawn has endured hardship and heartbreak that would harden the hearts of most; yet she remains with love in her heart and has found forgiveness for those who abused her.

When Dawn was 27, she was sentenced to 30 years for defending herself, unintentionally causing the demise of her step-grandfather.

Dawn's message: "I am in great hopes of one day advocating for victims of sexual abuse -- those yet to discover their voice -- their healing; those who remain trapped in their silence, mentally, emotionally, and verbally confined." She encourages 'all' victims of abuse to courageously speak, and uproot their voices -- to speak their truth and be heard.

Though Dawn struggled to overcome the strongholds of a painful and dark past, she persevered. Since her incarceration she has obtained both her high school diploma, and Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. Dawn is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Dawn has successfully completed 67+ institutional programs geared towards her behavior, employment and future. She has also maintained a great institutional record without disciplines.
