I was born Hard of Hearing, I am a lip reader. If I am watching a programme or film, I often miss a sentence or misinterpret it, I have to rely on other people to understand what’s being said and it is very FRUSTRATING. The reason not every Tv show or movie documentary has subtitles I know people who are hard of hearing will understand It’s about time all Tv Films etc have subtitles especially catch up or on demand are bad for not having any I pay my subscription Tv licence the same as everyone but miss out a lot because of something as simple as subtitles having them would benefit lots of people this is why I think it’s important please sign my petition and help lots of people of all ages. 11 million people suffer from hearing loss in the United Kingdom alone. All Age groups suffer from hearing loss not just the elderly like people assume. Point of fact: if a child has to use a visual aid, example a laptop or a TV for educational purposes and there are no subtitles, that child is already at a disadvantage from their peers. In an era where we ALL use technology, let’s get subtitles for ALL the people that need it so that we All feel part of society. After all, who knows, YOU Might need it one day.
