Why this petition matters

Started by Shawn Mahan

I, like many others, am tired of the recurring scenario where we are left to choose between two elderly candidates for the most important position in our country. The presidency is a demanding job that requires not just wisdom and experience, but also energy and a connection with modern realities. It's time we address this issue head-on.

According to a study by Harvard Medical School, cognitive decline begins around age 60 and accelerates after age 70 (Harvard Health Publishing). This can potentially impact decision-making abilities which are crucial for a president. Furthermore, according to Pew Research Center data from 2019, millennials and Gen Z will make up more than one-third of eligible voters in the next election cycle (Pew Research Center). These younger generations deserve representation that understands their unique challenges.

By setting an age limit for presidential candidates at no older than 65 years old, we can ensure that our leaders are physically fit and cognitively sharp enough to handle the demands of office while also being able to relate better with younger generations.

Let's push for change now! Sign this petition if you believe it's time we set an age limit on presidential candidacy.
