SUPPORT HOUSING, PREVENT OVERBUILDING IN KENSINGTON/DITMAS PARK
Why this petition matters
HELP PRESERVE THE HEART AND SOUL OF BROOKLYN!
Please be aware that there is an application to rezone 534 Coney Island Avenue (at Beverly Road) where KFC and the Shell station are, which would result in 11 and 14 story buildings--and who knows what next!
Although we fully support new housing - especially affordable housing - in our neighborhoods, we do not support such tall buildings. There are no other buildings on the surrounding blocks which are taller than 7 stories. This petition is for you to show support for new housing, while keeping the height of the proposed buildings to a maximum of seven stories.
The impact of the size of the buildings-as-proposed will not only dramatically change the character of our neighborhoods, it will overburden the already stretched infrastructure--most notably traffic, public transportation, sanitation, sewers, parking, and public school seats.
Additionally, the air and light quality in the immediate vicinity would be negatively impacted forever.
Please help Kensington and Ditmas Park residents have more awareness and a more powerful voice and decision about the future of our neighborhoods.
