Tell U.S. Forest Service to DENY Holland Lake Lodge/POWDR Master Development Plan 

The United States Forest Service must deny the Holland Lake Lodge/POWDR proposal that would:

• Triple the size of the Lodge in Montana
• Grab nine more acres of our public land
• Ruin pristine Holland Lake
• Endanger our land, water and wildlife

We sign this petition to say that this HLL/POWDR proposal is simply not in the public interest and should be denied immediately. 

Holland Lake Lodge currently sits on 10.53 acres of public land, and we don’t want industrial tourism and commercial recreation to destroy our unspoiled Holland Lake, which sits in the heart of the largely undeveloped Seeley-Swan Valley in northwest Montana.

Tripling the size of the lodge would negatively impact threatened and endangered species like grizzly bears and bull trout and bring huge commercial operations to the rural and historic valley that courses between two mountain ranges and two large wilderness areas.

We value our public lands, clean air and water, abundant wildlife and the strong communities in the Seeley-Swan Valley, and don’t want these resources to be despoiled by commercialization of OUR public land.  

And we certainly don’t like the way this huge development was secretly hatched and then proposed to Americans while limiting the public comment period and planning to use an expedited and lenient environmental review. Forest Service officials actually misinformed the public about the true size of the project that grabs additional lakefront and public land.

We’ve lost trust in your agency and believe that you should be looking out for your bosses – we Americans – and respecting the need to protect our natural resources and public lands.

We want our friends, family and future generations to continue to enjoy our spectacular natural resources, and not hand them over to a huge commercial ski developer.

In fact, Americans and Montanans were so outraged by this secretive proposal that 99 percent of the 6,500 public comments opposed the project.

Deny the proposal, deny the land grab – it’s not in the public interest.
