We the undersigned, are concerned to read about the closure of the cafe in the Eltham Centre from the SE9 magazine. At the same time, we note that the Royal Borough of Greenwich Council has announced that the Leisure Centre operators Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) will “develop a plan and identify the best way to use the space to benefit our residents”.

We note that the cafe and surrounding space in the Eltham Centre are well used by the wider community, particularly families with young children. Similarly, the service desk allows many Eltham residents without internet access to utilise Council services.

We formally request that the Council and GLL work together to retain as many services as possible in the Eltham Centre. In particular, we object to the cafe's closure, which is a core part of the centre supporting the use of the leisure centre and library.
