Why this petition matters

Started by Miigis Curley

ETHS already participates in so much Anti-Indigenaity against Native peoples and their students. The racial native violence committed at ETHS continues to go ignored. On May 22nd, an ETHS native senior, Ojibwe and Navajo, had to sit on the bleachers for his own graduation ceremony. All because our preaching of freedom of identity, wouldn't allow him to represent his culture with a beaded cap with an Eagle Feather. He was not allowed to walk, sit, nor recieve his diploma along with his peers. This is disgusting especially from ETHS, so proud of their anti-racism, and equality. This student is a badass, standing against a bullshit rule. We need to take action so all students can represent who they are at such an important moment in their lives.
