A petition to to persuade the members of the Havre City Council to allow "urban hens" within the city limits.  Limitations within such an ordinance should include:

-Up to six hens

-No roosters

-Must have aesthetically pleasing chicken coop and run

-Chickens must be shut in at night

-Must not be in front yard

-Annual permit required

-City enforcement when non-compliant

This ordinance would allow Havre city residents to improve their quality of life by allowing them to grow their own eggs and also to have a small measure of food security.  

Because spring is the best season to start raising chickens, we respectfully request the city council take up the measure at the May 1, 2023 meeting.
