Rewrite the ADA zoning rules for better economy
Why this petition matters
Some areas in St. Louis County aren't served by Metro Call-a-Ride because of the ADA zoning rule. And the 3/4 mile is only for local bus routes and not express bus routes. Which to me, that is disgusting. I know that some CEOs of major corporations don't want people in wheelchairs working for them, but Metro shouldn't just cave to the wishes of the greedy CEOs when it comes to employment. There are some middle-aged citizens that may need to be working in suburbs like Oakville, and Eureka. There are some senior citizens that might not be getting enough money from the government to make ends meet and may need another job. And there are some who wants to get out but cannot drive nor can afford an Uber. If the ADA zone can be expanded to where more citizens can be served, then we could improve our economy. Businesses could end up getting the management that actually cares about their employees. Take a good look at Six Flags. It takes good maintenance to keep them working perfectly. And Six Flags needs the mechanics to fix broken rides at the theme park. Sometimes a senior citizen might come in handy to serve at Six Flags as a mechanic. If you look at the current map, you can see that the pink is the general public zone and ADA people would be slapped with a taxicab/uber like fare and the blue is the ADA zone. So what needs to be done is to where the ADA zoning is reworked to where it can be expanded or have the same ADA fares be charged in the general public zone.
