Why this petition matters

Started by Emily keller

Jorge Gonzalez was a victim of police brutality in the RGV. He suffered a broken neck and compressed spine at the hands of 3 RGV sheriff Deputies. He was hardly awake in his mugshot. In his mugshot officers had to hold up his head. RGV officers tasered Gonzalez 3 times after he was already arrested. When a deputy tripped him on purpose he fell hard hitting his face on concrete, knocking him unconscious. He was taken to Hidalgo County where he was neglected and didn’t revive the proper or correct treatment. He went over 26 hours in Hidalgo county jail without the medical attention that would have saved his life. He suffered 5 pneumonia’s and was paralyzed from the neck down. He could not breathe alone without the help of a ventilator and was in ICU for a month after being arrested. Jorges doctors stated that he should have been put in a long term facility immediately. Due to the fact that Jorge was undocumented and did not have insurance, he wasn’t “ fit “ to revive the proper care he needed. 23 year old Jorge Gonzalez passed away in the E.R. a father, son, and hard working man. Just because Jorge wasn’t properly documented does not make him any less valid or deserving of care than anybody else. Please sign this petition to fire the 3 officers who were involved with the ultimate killing of Jorge. #JusticeforJorge
