Petition to Stockton Borough Council on behalf of Wolviston Speed Action Awareness Group, Wolviston Parish Council, Billingham West & Wolviston Ward Councillors, Wolviston Primary School and Wolviston Village Residents.

The safety of our community is of utmost importance, especially when it comes to the safety of our roads. Following numerous traffic incidents in the village, we are concerned citizens and councillors who have noticed an increase in speeding on our streets and we believe that traffic calming measures must be installed to reduce this dangerous behaviour.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding is a factor in approximately one-third of all fatal car accidents. Furthermore, studies have shown that traffic calming measures such as speed humps, chicanes and improved parking can significantly reduce speeding and improve overall road safety.

We urge Stockton Council to take action by installing appropriate traffic calming measures in our community. By doing so, we can ensure that our streets are safer for children, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike.
