Why this petition matters

Started by Brandon Bell

We, the concerned citizens of Carbon County, Pennsylvania, unite with an unwavering commitment to the preservation of our Second Amendment rights. With a shared determination to protect our fundamental liberties, we come together to advocate for the adoption of Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinances (SAPOs) as a potent mechanism to uphold our constitutional values and send a powerful message to our state and federal representatives.

Across the United States, citizens have rallied behind the principles enshrined in the Second Amendment. As of September 29, 2021, nearly 2,000 counties, cities, and towns spanning over 40 states have embraced SAPOs or sanctuary resolutions. This groundswell serves as a testament to the resolute spirit with which Americans stand up for their fundamental rights.

From Illinois to Virginia, from Colorado to Texas, citizens are standing united in their commitment to defend their constitutional rights against any encroachments. Pennsylvania, too, joins this nationwide movement, with a growing call to action that urges us to safeguard our liberties.

The significance of SAPOs lies in their distinction from mere resolutions of intent. These ordinances establish legal parameters and guidelines, granting them the authority to be enforced as local law. This unique feature empowers communities to take a stand against any actions that threaten their rights, reinforcing their dedication to the principles that have shaped our nation's identity.

To date, Bowmanstown, Lansford, Palmerton, Franklin Township, Penn Forest Township, Lehighton, and Perryville have all declared themselves as sanctuaries, sending a clear message that the preservation of our Second Amendment rights is a priority.

We applaud the Gun Owners of America (GOA) for endorsing the adoption of SAPOs. This organization recognizes the vital role that these ordinances play in protecting our liberties and conveying an unequivocal message to our representatives: We stand united in the defense of our constitutional rights.

Today, we invite you to lend your voice to our cause. By adding your signature to this petition, you affirm your commitment to defending the Second Amendment. With SAPOs, we not only shield our liberties, but we also assert our values and ensure our voices echo through the halls of government.

Add your signature to this petition to reaffirm your dedication to the principles that define our nation. Stand alongside fellow citizens as we advocate for the adoption of Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinances, ensuring the protection of the rights we hold dear and delivering a resonant message to our state and federal representatives.
