Why this petition matters

In June 2015, 20th Century Fox got the rights to create a film adaptation of Noelle's Stevenson's debut graphic novel, Nimona. For years, fans have been patiently waiting for the film to finally debut to the public, knowing Blue Sky studios was hard at work, along with the other talented people on the team to make this film happen. However, on February 9th 2021, it was announced that Disney would be shutting down Blue Sky Studios, not only putting off the jobs of 450 employees, but also cancelling upcoming projects, one of them being Nimona. Films being cancelled happen a lot, but Nimona was extremely late into production, only ten months until it was supposed to be finished. While not much can be done for Blue Sky's overall situation, given that Disney is a very large company with lots of power, I believe that hopefully, something can be done to save the Nimona project. If Disney is willing to let the project be continued under the guidance of another studio or platform, then the project can be completed and we'll finally be able to see what would've been one fo Blue Sky's best films according to many who worked on the project. I don't want Blue Sky's final film to be put to rest so late, so I've made this petition not just to hopefully persuade Disney to make a decision, but to let the passion that was put into the movie by the directors, producers, writers, animators, musicians, and everyone on the team alike. I don't know if this will even work in the first place, but Blue Sky should go out not with a whimper, but with a bang, and Nimona should have the right to be finished. Please sign the petition, share it, and spread awareness so that we hopefully can change Nimona's fate!!
