Why this petition matters

Started by Kat Brand

Urban communities have been plagued with policies that are bias to Melanin Dominant humans and lower class populations of people due to Eugenics and Institutional Racism.

As a result, MDH communities face poor and underdeveloped infrastructures, affordable and adequate housing, environmental health risks, mental illness, inadequate services and food supply.

There is a combination of lack of support from Municipal actors, community leaders and organizations, landlords and or property managers that engage in inhumane practices that violate Human Rights.

The global community is called on to join The Reset Community Initiatives in the following to ensure building owners, property managers and landlords cannot continue with inhumane treatment of residents, tenants, visitors in urban and marginalized communities nor use Municipal or other levels of government to enable their inhumane treatments:

  1. Ensure that property managers and landlords uphold top level standards in urban and marginalized communities that reflect the United Nations Declaration for the Peoples of African Diaspora
  2. Ensure Municipal actors do not enable inhumane practices that allow knowing or unknowingly property managers, building owners and landlords to use bias or deny the human rights of MDH and those considered lower class populations.
  3. Ensure above adequate services and infrastructures in urban and marginalized communities are safe, family friendly places to live, work and visit.
  4. Ensure organizations, the courts and policy makers protect the Human Rights and dignity of the poor, the weak, the disabled, low-income families and MDH.
  5. Ensure that any property manager with more than 3 complaints of violations have their license revoked and risk of loss of property.
  6. Ensure building owners, property managers, or landlords cannot purchase other properties or make any deals with the government or Municipal actors for more properties in marginalized communities who have more than three complaints that have not been properly resolved that does not involve paying a fine.
  7. Ensure the courts are held responsible to hold accountable building owners, or property managers or landlords with more than 3 complaint violations
  8. Ensure corporations, food stores and grocery stores provide clean spaces, and quality food.
  9. Ensure marginalized communities are equipped with MRAs - marginalized resident associations.

The Reset Community is a grassroots initiative that began to address the age-old social issues that have plagues marginalized communities globally in the form of Eugenics, Institutional and Environmental Racism.

All this time building owners, property managers and landlords are able to hide behind Municipal actors, the courts and other practices that do not hold them accountable for the social issues in marginalized communities.

People in positions of community organizations, government, leaders, corporations, housing organizations, member oriented organizations, not-for-profits and residents in and outside of marginalized communities all have a the power to do something.

If you choose not to - you are enabling further degradation of a people who at this time are to receive your help, support and advancement as declared by the United Nations Declaration for the Decade of People of the African Descent to end racism practices, inhumane treatment, and act of degradation.

You, have the power and authority to make a difference.  Together we can!

“Racism, especially systemic racism, undermines our economic potentials, our social cohesion, our cultural vitality, and more importantly, our core values. Strong leadership from our federal government with adequate resources to combat racism will give us the tools and the faith to move forward together and continue the task of nation building.”

—Fo Niemi, Secretary-Treasurer of the Institute for Research and Education on Race Relations
