To the American people: This is not a self-serving petition nor is it an attempt to collect money. It is however an attempt to have you contact your elected Congressman and let every other American you know of a potential repeat of the banking industry collapse, 2006-2009. Fannie Mae, the lending giant is opening the flood gates in the best interest of mortgage banking, builders, realtors as well as others having a vested interest in the mortgage industry by eliminating the gate keepers of the industry, the appraiser. The last vestige of a check and balance may be eliminated forever leaving the field open to unscrupulous players who, inevitably, will leave the taxpayers holding the "bag". It will be a repeat of the 2006-2009 banking collapse only much worse if allowed to happen.

The mortgage market of the United States of America has seen many ups and downs.

Over the last several years there has been unprecedented volumes of sales and refinance activity in the residential sector. That frenzy has dissipated.

However, Fannie Mae is determined to endanger the system’s security by doing away with property appraisals. It is scheduled to do so as of April 1, 2023. This is a so-called cure for delays of the recent market frenzy. That frenzy was a once in a lifetime occurrence.

The purchase of a home is the largest investment most American citizen undertakes in his/her life. We have history that proves mortgage brokers gamed the system on numerous occasions. If we remove the appraisal, we have removed the referee from the game. All rules can and will be broken. Appraisals are also important to the financial stability of the United States.

This dangerous step puts the American economy and your pocketbook at risk, very similar to 2006-2009. When the American public learns that this recklessness has been allowed, there will be unpleasant backlash, as they will not understand how this could happen again.
