We ask for GP's to have a new protocol in place that would send former endometriosis patients whose endometriosis symptoms have returned, back to the team who diagnosed them. This would save the NHS a lot of money on unnecessary tests and would improve the quality of life for people suffering endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a life long debilitating condition that affects 1 in 10 people born with a uterus. It currently takes on average between 7-10 years to get a diagnosis.

The journey to diagnosis can be isolating and can drain even the strongest person's mental health. There have been many suicides related to endometriosis and can lead to so many broken families.

For a person to go through all this and finally have a diagnosis and treatment is a huge relief.  Everyone with endometriosis knowledge understands that the majority of patients will need more than one surgery and more than one treatment.

How do we then allow patients to go through this pain staking, soul destroying battle again?

GP's should be referring patients straight back to their previous specialist instead of starting the whole process of ultrasounds, blood tests, birth control etc. Not only does it waste vital resources and funds but it means the patient is more likely to be misdiagnosed and told its "in their head" impacting mental health, relationships and finances.
