Miiverse was a social network for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, created by Nintendo System Development and Hatena, and powered by the Nintendo Network. Integrated into many games, Miiverse allowed players to interact and share their experiences by way of handwritten messages or drawings, text, screenshots, and sometimes game videos in dedicated communities. It was available via any web browser, and a dedicated app version originally planned for tablets and smartphones. All users who signed up for a Nintendo Network ID were automatically given a Miiverse profile per account, represented by the Mii avatar connected to said Nintendo Network ID.

When it was first released in 2012, the Miiverse app garnered a significant user following. Sadly, due to the Wii U being discontinued, the app was ultimately shut down. Someone had posted before the shutdown, stating:
"Miiverse will be gone soon. I've been here since the beginning... and now it's almost the end. The memories I made were full of bliss, and it was fun. I can't believe Nintendo confirmed it was going to happen. I'm going to miss the ones who impacted me the most. If Miiverse shuts down and we want to contact our friends by sharing it here, heck, that'll be hard."

It is evident that the closure of it has caused a great deal of devastation among many people.
However, during its time, it managed to accumulate millions of posts, replies, screenshots, and drawings, as well as creating developer-specific communities and E3 communities that Nintendo later delisted. While some may have turned to third-party, unofficial mods like Pretendo, not everyone wants to mod their Wii U. It's clear that every Wii U owner desires to see others' opinions and drawings. Bringing back Miiverse to the Wii U is crucial to prevent it from becoming obsolete and to boost its sales. With only 13 million existing, Wii U's are becoming rarer, and people may feel compelled to purchase them before they become more expensive. However, if they can't share their thoughts or play more online games without having to turn away from their console (a major convenience), they may leave it sitting in the dust. It's essential to act now and bring back Miiverse to the Wii U; otherwise, the Wii U will lose its relevance. Let's work together to make Wii U fun again - it's how U will play next!
