With Ukraine currently being invaded by Russia, the best way we can save the lives of Ukrainians while not causing more bloodshed or risking war with Russia is to let Ukrainians come here. We should give priority to Ukrainian women and children, but ultimately give legal residency to every law-abiding Ukrainian who wants to come to America. 

Every Ukrainian who comes to America is one less Ukrainian who will be at risk of being wounded or killed in the current war. And America will benefit too, as Ukrainians bring their talents and drive here. We can work with Ukrainian authorities to conduct background checks to screen out any Ukrainians who belong to communist or neo-Nazi organizations.

It's time to put people ahead of war and weapons. For the cost of one Javelin missile ($78,000) we can support a Ukrainian family in America comfortably for a year. Let's chose peace and prosperity instead of war and suffering. Fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian may assuage Americans' anger at this invasion but it will get a lot more innocent Ukrainians killed, and it won't change the end result.

If Ukrainians decide to stay and fight to the last man and woman, let that be their choice, not ours. Let's let them have new lives in America.
