I ask that you would get behind our cause in changing the Statute Of Limitations in Sexual assault in the state of Indiana, especially with DNA and Video Evidence.

I am also requesting the mandate of classes to teach survivors, and the community, what to do if a sexual assault happens. We hope victims can get counseling whether they decide to proceed with prosecution or not. 

I was sexually assaulted by a group of well trusted men 20 years ago and I had limited ability to prosecute despite having video evidence.  

I have unfortunately spent my best adult years in therapy trying to be mentally tough due to the violent nature and injustice of my case. Healing takes patience.  The road to healing is lonely and long.  I want to be the voice for survivors and to advocate support in their road of healing after sexual assault.  I recognize the isolation and shame that comes with speaking your truth.

The legacy continues.  I have recently discovered that my beautiful little sister was also assaulted in the middle of the day, in Carmel Indiana, the best city in the US to live and raise a family.  Despite her therapy, she recently tried to take her life. I now realize the legacy that sexual assault has on the victims and their family.  But I also realize how we as a society have disappointed those in most need.  This could be your child, your sister, your brother, your mother, and we need to begin to find our voices.  

Victims of trauma from sexual assault will struggle with mental health, depression, anxiety, PTSD and fear. Their road to recovery begins when a victim realizes they have a voice.  

I am pleading for you to recognize that DNA or Video evidence can be that change to give our children a voice of the future.  Let us utilize this evidence in support that we will have the voice in the future even if we are unable to speak now.  

I am speaking out on podcast, social and national media to urge you to support the future sisters, wives, mothers of tomorrow.  I am reaching out to the most powerful country to become powerful.
