My parents, like many others in Alabama, are on a fixed income due to disability. Their electricity bill from the Alabama Power Company is almost more than their monthly checks combined. This is not just their story; it's the story of countless families across our state who are struggling to keep up with skyrocketing electricity costs.

Alabama Power Company has a monopoly over our energy supply and continues to charge exorbitant rates that many residents simply cannot afford. According to data from the U.S Energy Information Administration (EIA), residential electricity prices in Alabama are among the highest in the nation.

This situation is untenable and unjust. It's time for us, as concerned citizens of Alabama, to demand that our power company lower its charges and provide affordable electricity for all its customers.

We call upon local and state officials as well as regulatory bodies such as The Public Service Commission (PSC) which oversees utilities in our state, to intervene on behalf of consumers like my parents who are being burdened by these excessive costs.
