Reparations Task Force for Virginia to Descendants of Enslaved Africans is fighting for you!

The legacy of our country’s history continues to affect us from moving forward. Our community continues to suffer from the injustices inflicted upon our ancestors. We are still facing disparities in education, employment, housing, healthcare, and Reparations Task Force for Virginia seeks Justice for these injustices by providing reparations to the descendants of enslaved African people. Reparations can take many forms, including financial compensation, scholarships, and community investments. The goal is to help right the wrongs of the past and to give these individuals and their families the resources they need to succeed.

But why is this important? 

Reparations are not just about providing financial compensation. They are also a way to acknowledge the wrongs that were done, to apologize for those wrongs, and to commit to doing better in the future. Reparations are a way to begin the healing process and to help restore the dignity and humanity that were taken away from these individuals and their families.

Some may argue that reparations are unnecessary or that they are too expensive. That should not stall the payment for restitution to begin immediately! The task force would argue that reparations are not only necessary but also long overdue.
Dr. Martin Luther King said, “ I’m coming for my Check!” before he got shot! he had a dream that we want to say we get to live.
The cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of reparations. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the injustices that were committed in our past.
