Let’s Memorialize James Hardy in Huntsville, AL
Let’s Memorialize James Hardy in Huntsville, AL
Why this petition matters
I knew James Hardy from our shared love of skateboarding and from growing up together in Huntsville, Alabama. His character was unmatched - he was supportive, honest, and loved by all who met him. Through his professional skateboarding career, he made friends all over the world while always remembering his roots in Huntsville. He understood the meaning of community and used skateboarding as a tool to unite many people in our city.
James achieved great heights in professional skateboarding while representing our city and state with pride. His untimely death on March 31st, 2024 left a void not only within the local skating community but also across the globe where he had touched so many lives.
The local Huntsville skate community holds many memories of James and his early days on a skateboard. It is only fitting that we honor his legacy with some form of memorial for James, his family, and those who held him near and dear to their hearts. This memorial, whether it be an addition to the current Lydia Gold Skatepark title, or commissioned mural or statue, would not only honor James, but it would also help to carry on the legacy he left for those who knew and loved him and inspire future generations of skaters from our town to follow their passions, just like he did. Let’s come together as a community by finding a way to memorialize James in a way that represents him as the loving and caring individual he was.
Please sign this petition if you agree that this memorial would serve as a fantastic representation of his passion for skateboarding and his love for our local community.
