Why this petition matters

We, the undersigned, come together in a spirit of concern and urgency to appeal for action regarding the pressing housing crisis faced by migrant healthcare workers in Ireland. With respect and empathy, we implore the government and relevant authorities to prioritize the welfare of these invaluable frontline workers by promptly addressing their housing challenges.

Migrant healthcare workers play an indispensable role in Ireland's healthcare system, tirelessly dedicating themselves to serving our communities, particularly during these trying times. However, many of them find themselves in distressing situations, struggling to secure suitable housing. This predicament not only affects their personal well-being but also hampers their ability to effectively fulfill their duties.

The current shortage of housing options has reached critical levels, with escalating rental prices exacerbating the situation. Consequently, many migrant healthcare workers are considering leaving Ireland after years of devoted service. Such an exodus threatens the stability of our healthcare system and undermines the cohesion of our communities.

In light of these challenges, we respectfully urge the government to:

The government should immediately stop all evictions of healthcare professionals until they find another place to move.

  1. Take immediate and decisive steps to increase the availability of affordable housing specifically designated for healthcare professionals.
  2. Foster partnerships with local authorities and housing developers to expedite the construction of accommodation facilities near healthcare facilities.
  3. Offer financial assistance and support programs to aid migrant healthcare workers in securing housing and navigating the rental market.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare institutions and community organizations to establish a robust support network for migrant workers facing housing difficulties.
  5.  We request that the government take action to set a maximum rent of €800 for a family of two adults and two kids for their first year in Ireland.

By adding your signature to this petition, you join us in extending solidarity and compassion to migrant healthcare workers and in urging swift action to ensure they have access to safe, affordable, and stable housing. Together, let us demonstrate our commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of those who selflessly care for our communities.

NB: We request that every healthcare professional sign this petition and promote its success. Also, please share your concerns in the comments; we will compile them and try to address them with the appropriate authorities.

We express our sincere gratitude for your attention to this urgent matter.

regards,

BICC
