El Premio Sájarov es el reconocimiento mas importante brindado por la Unión Europea a grupos o individuos que dedican su vida a la defensa de los derechos humanos y la libertad de conciencia.

Monseñor Rolando Álvarez obispo de la diócesis de Matagalpa - Nicaragua, encarcelado por el Régimen de Daniel Ortega y Rosario Murillo desde hace mas de un año por pronunciarse a favor de los oprimidos, fue nominado para dicho premio y desde Libertad Religiosa Nicaragua creemos que es merecedor de ganarlo por su valiente lucha a favor de la justicia y la verdad en Nicaragua.

Solicitamos a todos los nicaragüenses dentro y fuera del país, asi como a todos los ciudadanos del mundo, firmar esta petición para que Monseñor Rolando Álvarez sea honrado con el Premio Sájarov por la libertad de conciencia.

The Sakharov Prize is the most important recognition granted by the European Union to groups or individuals who dedicate their lives to the defense of human rights and freedom of conscience.

Bishop Rolando Álvarez of the Matagalpa diocese in Nicaragua, imprisoned by the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo for over a year for speaking out in favor of the oppressed, has been nominated for this award. At Libertad Religiosa Nicaragua, we believe he deserves to win it for his courageous fight for justice and truth in Nicaragua.

We urge all Nicaraguans inside and outside the country, as well as citizens around the world, to sign this petition for Bishop Rolando Álvarez to be honored with the Sakharov Prize for freedom of conscience.
