STOP GRACE DEPORTATION

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a critical matter that requires urgent consideration. We are facing the imminent deportation of a valued member of our community, Grace Gitau (affectionately known as GG), who has been an integral part of the Kenyan Canadian Community since her arrival in September 2018.

Grace is a dedicated graduate in community harm reduction and overdose prevention management. Her commitment to helping others is evident through her tireless efforts in various sectors, including supporting newcomers during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Her compassion shines through in her acts of kindness, such as buying food and cooking for the homeless population in London, Ontario.
GG works hard, and is a faithful taxpayer.

Grace has been very supportive to individuals who use substances in the community and at her place of work which is a safe space for supervised consumption and harm reduction support by offering appropriate referrals and harm reduction education as necessary to support positive health out come such as HIV and HCV testing and treatment. She responds swiftly to medical overdose emergencies by providing reversal medication and after care to people experiencing medical distress.

After her regular work hours, Grace has taken it upon herself to organize talks with drug-free homeless individuals, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle. The Canadian Kenyan community recognizes her as "G.G," symbolizing the Good Girl that she truly is. Her generosity knows no bounds, as she has provided aid to those living with non-curable diseases, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.

It's important to highlight that Grace has never relied on government financial support and has remained free from any involvement in criminal activities. Her presence within our community has not only enriched our lives but has also contributed to the well-being and advancement of countless individuals.

Grace is a champion for human rights, over the recent years she’s provided support to LGBTQ2S+ communities especially fellow refugee claimants persecuted in their own countries of origin. Grace recently participated in the London pride to show solidarity and support and to bolster the message that we are not free until all members of our community enjoy inherent rights and freedom to exist without fear of discrimination and persecution, Grace enjoys immense goodwill and support from the LGBTQ2S+ community both at her work place and in community and she has built trust within the community*

Grace Gitau is an active member of various organizations, including Diaspora United, Swahili catholic Church Community, London Social Group, Sauti Yetu Organization, and 411 Org. Her role within these groups has further solidified her importance as a valuable asset to our community.

In addition to her exceptional contributions and the positive influence she has had on numerous lives, Grace chairs, Wamama Women  Group. She has recently  been hosting  homeless  refugee  claimants and helping them settle in shelters within London  Ontario hence alleviating the pressure at 129 Peter Street , Toronto.  I implore you to join us in signing the petition to STOP the deportation of Grace Gitau. By doing so, we can ensure that Canada continues to benefit from her selfless dedication and remarkable contributions.

Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated. Together, we can make a difference and stand up for justice, compassion, and the well-being of our community members.
