Why this petition matters

Started by Bruno Brozovic

My personal journey as the owner of a review website has been significantly impacted by the dominance of Reddit content in Google's top search results. The visibility of my site, which provides quality reviews and insights, has declined due to this issue. It is not just my story; many other small businesses and independent websites are also affected by this situation.

Reddit is indeed a popular platform with millions of users worldwide, but it should not monopolize the top positions in Google's search results. This practice undermines diversity and competition on the web. According to Statista, as of July 2021, there were over 1.8 billion websites globally - all vying for visibility on search engines like Google.

Google’s mission statement is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” However, favoring one source over others contradicts this mission because it limits access to diverse information sources.

We request that Google re-evaluates its algorithms to ensure fair representation for all websites in its search results – not just popular platforms like Reddit. By doing so, we can maintain a healthy digital ecosystem where every voice matters.

Please sign this petition if you believe in equal opportunities for all online content providers!
