Why this petition matters

Started by Jen Schwarz

We, the undersigned residents of Rt. 96 Trumansburg Rd, between Cayuga Medical Center and Iradell Road, as well as visitors to Indian Creek Farm, sign in support of a (1) speed limit reduction from 55 to 45 MPH along Rt. 96 from just beyond the Cayuga Medical Center to Iradell Road and (2) yellow pedestrian signage at the intersection of Dubois Rd. and Rt. 96.  Due to the volume of traffic, excessive speeding, a blind curve in the road, the lack of pedestrian facilities, and the recent accident history, including a pedestrian fatality, we believe that a 45 MPH speed limit between the Cayuga Medical Center and Iradell Road is more in keeping with the residential character of the neighborhood.  The yellow pedestrian signage will assist pedestrian traffic crossing Rt. 96 to get to Indian Creek Farm. As Indian Creek Farm has now become a destination center for the neighborhood, ensuring the safety of pedestrian traffic is of key importance to the residents as well as visitors to the neighborhood.
